Our History

The group, which was founded in 1952 in the field of agriculture, represents today a commerce conglomerate with a rich business portfolio spreading into various sectors and services that has contributed immensely to the economic development of Iraq.

From the modest beginnings of a small Iraqi agricultural company based in Baghdad, Iraq the founders of the company went a long way since then into establishing a solid business for generations to come. Al Janabi Group managed to diversify its business by adding on to its agriculture investments and strongly entering into the textile industry, both manufacturing and contracting. Since then, the company went into a mode of expansion entering various industries and maintaining a leading edge of success in each of them. The group has been awarded some of the largest construction projects in Iraq such as the country’s largest Medical City Center and continues year after year to lead many of Iraq’s various business industries.

Iraq’s scientific and civil heritage is one of the richest in history. The great accomplishments of the Mesopotamian civilization are an inspiration to the Al Janabi Group emblem. Of all the symbols imbedded in this period of history, the Group is founded upon the symbol of Lammasu. This mythological icon represents the business philosophy by which we are founded upon, because it combines the virtues of strength in lions, the vision in birds, and the intelligence in humans. These qualities have and will continue to direct and lead the future path of Al Janabi Group.
